Crystal MaCurdy, PhD Student
Executive Director/ Senior Program Director
Crystal is pursuing her PhD in Infant and Early Childhood Development, with an emphasis on Mental Health and Developmental Differences, through Fielding Graduate University. She is among only a few students ever accepted into the program without first holding a Master’s Degree, which she will earn as part of her PhD program. Crystal graduated from Washington State University with a BA in Human Development specializing in Early Childhood Education in 2021. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and was voted Outstanding Senior. Crystal completed some of her practicum hours at the Community Building Children’s Center in 2020 where she fell in love with Reggio-Inspired programming. She owned and operated her nature-inspired preschool from 2017-2021; and pioneered Play & Learn programming for disadvantaged families until joining Blueprints for Learning in 2022. Crystal believes that high-quality early learning programs begin with passionate, experienced, well-educated, and nurtured early learning professionals. She is passionate about growing, inspiring, and empowering children, families, and early educators through Reggio philosophy and mental health initiatives.
Community Building Children’s Center
Katie Salisbury, MA ECE
Katie became Program Director of the Community Building Children’s Center in 2023. She began as a Lead Preschool Teacher at CBCC in 2019. Katie holds a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education through Portland State University. With nearly 12 years of experience in the field of Early Childhood Education, Katie has taught in Toddler and Preschool Classrooms in a variety of settings. Katie has been fortunate to learn and gain inspiration from many mentors and teachers that she has encountered on her journeys from Portland to Pittsburgh to Kenya to Italy, the home of the Reggio Emilia Approach. Katie is committed to the Reggio value of being a learner/researcher along side children. She believes in supporting the learning and growth of children, families, and teachers and takes great pride in the opportunity to do so in the beautiful, innovative, and supportive setting of CBCC.
Anita Morgan, M.Ed.
Retired Program Director
Anita was the Executive Director of Blueprints for Learning from 2004-2018 and was the Director of the Community Building Children’s Center from 2004 – 2019.
